‘Let’s Press’ is a short film about letterpress. The film was produced in support of Benoit Ollive’s piece for the ‘TypeSCALE’ show at Camberwell Space. The film was made by Archie McLeish and features Benoit Ollive and James Edgar. The poster in the clip features the Flaxman typeface designed by Edward Wright and is unique to the letterpress at Camberwell College of Arts.
The exhibition ‘TypeSCALE’ took place at Camberwell Space towards the end of last year. The exhibition was a representation of student, alumni and staff typographic work exploring the possibilities of wood and metal type from letterpress through to laser cut letter forms.
The works attempted to challenge accepted notions of size, scale, process and methods of reproduction of typographic printed outcomes and hint at future room for development of letterpress in the College and beyond.
The show was curated by David Coventon (BA Graphic Design Course Director), James Edgar (who runs the Letterpress workshop at Camberwell), Benoit Ollive and Frederick Williams.
